Description

A vocal effects stompbox that adds layers, loops, harmonies, effects, and lots of fun to your singing.

Who says stompboxes are just for guitarists? The easy-to-use BOSS VE-20 has been designed from the ground up for singers, featuring some of the finest vocal-effects technology on the market. With the click of a footswitch, you can instantly add lush vocal layers and harmonies to your singing, add realtime pitch-correction, and you can show your creative side with special effects like distortion, radio, and strobe. You can even create loops and layers in real time with the onboard Phrase Looper. Perform anywhere with the VE-20 since it runs on AC or battery power (sold separately).

Simple quality
The BOSS VE-20 vocal effects pedal takes your voice to a whole new level with essential effects in an incredibly user-friendly interface that lets you take total control of your vocal sound. Simply dial in your favorite setting and sing with no programming required. The VE-20 is a practical vocal effects processor even for first-timers. Of course, if you want to roll your sleeves up and create, the Boss VE-20 has a variety of editing tools onboard too.

Harmony factory
Add lush harmonies to your lead vocals instantly as you sing. Select the harmony interval of your choice, or create multipart stacks, such as upper third and lower fifth, and save them for instant recall. You can also thicken your vocals with Double Track. Best of all, this BOSS pedal is incredibly easy to use: there's no need for programming, and you don't need to input notes from a keyboard as you do with a Vocoder; you simply sing and let the VE-20 vocal pedal do the rest.

Phrase loop
Sing, record, loop, and overdub with the onboard Phrase Looper, inherited from Boss's popular RE-20XL Loop Station. You get 38 seconds of mono record time to loop and layer phrases, and you can do it all in real time onstage. From doo-wop to human-beatbox, this tool will wow audiences.

Special effects
In addition to its harmony and pitch-correction tools, the BOSS VE-20 vocal pedal offers a colorful and expressive collection of special effects, including: electric, robot, strobe, distortion, chorus, and reverb.

Road-tough design
With the same solid-metal construction as other BOSS stompboxes, the VE-20 is built to last. Its footprint is identical to Boss Twin-Series pedals, ensuring that it will fit perfectly into existing multi-pedal BOSS pedalboards and travel cases.

Boss VE-20 Vocal Effects Processor Features:

  • Specialized effects for vocalists, including: harmony, double-track, dynamics, reverb, delay, and more
  • Create the total of 3-part harmonies and layers
  • Realtime pitch-correction tools
  • Special FX, including Distortion, Radio and Strobe
  • Phrase Looper with 38 seconds (mono) of recording time
  • Phantom power for condenser microphones
  • Runs on six AA-batteries or AC adaptor -PSA (not included)
  • Easy operation, road-tough Boss construction

Live Engineer and Correction-in-a-pedal

VoiceTone Correct combines studio compression, tone shaping and de-essing with selectable pitch correction so you can deliver your best vocal performances. Have you ever noticed how as a singer, you seldom have control of the sound system and no sound engineer to help you get a great live vocal sound? Correct acts like an audio engineer does by reacting to your vocal sound and applying studio dynamics and EQ to bring out your best tone.

Now you can put a recorded gloss on your live singing without the setup and adjustment of complex equipment normally required to achieve “that sound”. An incredible amount of live sound research was undertaken in designing Correct so that you can trust it as your personal, capable and reliable sound engineer.

  • Compact pedal design allows you to take your “sound engineer” to performances.
  • Super-simple operation is designed to give you great vocal sound right now!
  • The Adaptive features for Compress and EQ assess your tone and gently adjust the amount of effect.
  • ”Set and forget” center notches in the Compress, Shape and De-Ess controls define the most common effect settings so you don’t have to search for your sound.
  • Auto chromatic pitch correction requires no key or scale setting, in fact, the only correction controls are amount and on/off
  • Your pitch-corrected vocal can be sent to the house or only to the monitors as a guide
  • Two footswitches allow separate activation of pitch correction and the Live Engineer effects.
  • XLR mic input with phantom power and XLR output
  • Clean, low noise, studio quality mic preamp

Real-time Tuning Guide with Pitch Correction

The auto-chromatic pitch correction helps you sing more in tune, much like a metronome helps for playing in time. It's like singing with a singer who has perfect pitch. This lets you know when you're out of tune and you naturally decide to correct yourself, or not.

Auto Chromatic Pitch Correction

In the same way a metronome helps for playing in time or how singing along with a singer who has perfect pitch helps for singing in tune, the auto chromatic pitch correction in VoiceTone Correct can improve your pitch performance.

Setting up for pitch correction has never been easier. The typical adjustments of key, scale and attack time aren’t present because the chromatic scale works for all western scale-based songs and the rest of the parameters are pre-set. Just set the Correct control to the center detente, press the footswitch and it’s done.

You can choose to send your pitch corrected voice to the house, in which case it will gently adjust your pitch for the audience, or you can send your corrected voice only to the monitors to be used as your guide. The two output jacks make these configurations possible.

Adaptive Shape Control Fits Your Voice

More than the typical multiband EQ found in your average mixer, the Adaptive Shape feature seeks to provide a pleasant balance between low and high frequencies for your voice.

Self-Adjusting Adaptive Compression

Setting up a typical compressor can be cumbersome and time consuming. Setting Correct’s Adaptive Compression feature to the default positions allow it to analyse your performance and provide gentle-on-the-ears compression wherever you sing on your mic.

De-Ess Smoothes Sibilance

You probably didn’t think you needed this feature, but when you brighten up and compress your voice, S sounds typically jump out. At loud performance volumes, this can lead to discomfort for your audience. Correct’s De-Ess feature reduces the volume of only sibilant sounds while retaining the pleasant brightness on the rest of your singing.

Awesome Vocals! November 7, 2010
Reviewer: Riley the Rocker from Marlboro, MA
I got the VE-20 from Musician's Muse and all I can say is I am blown away.  I loved all the presets, but then I started to tinker with it, and just couldn't stop.  The harmonizer tracked perfectly.  It is crystal clear and I can use it live to give me dreamy or clear backup vocals.  it is ruggged, and I like it better than any of the TC pedals.
